JA Solar

JA Solar

JA SOLAR was founded in 2005 and listed on the US NASDAQ Exchange in 2007. Its impressive supply chain includes photovoltaic products that design, manufacture and sell to over 100 countries and regions. Products range from silicon wafers, cells and modules to complete photovoltaic (PV) power systems. On the strength of its continued technological innovations, solid financials, global sales and customer service networks, JA SOLAR has received worldwide recognition from authoritative agencies, as a leading global manufacturer of high-performance PV products.

JA SOLAR provides high-quality PV modules for the rooftops of residential and business buildings as well as ground power stations in more than 100 countries and regions.

PV system of Residential rooftop

JA SOLAR’s residential PV power generation systems provide an important channel for investment. With a PV home system, the rooftop turns into an interest-paying asset.

Commercial and Industrial rooftop PV system

Business owners can install JA SOLAR’s PV power generation systems on their rooftops engineered for their own demand, with the balance being fed into the electricity grid. The price for industrial and commercial electricity is high, so the yield from electricity generation is even more attractive.

Ground-Mount Power Station

As a PERC patent holder, JA SOLAR provided nearly 50% of PV modules for the China “Front-Runner” project, of which 40% were PERC modules.

JA Solar is a Chinese company that is one of the largest manufacturers of solar panels in the world. They produce tier 1 solar panels that carry a 10 year product warranty, which is standard for the industry. They have an Australian office located in Newcastle which means there are people in the country you can contact in case you have a problem. As their panels are salt mist corrosion resistant they are suitable for installation anywhere in Australia.

JA Solar Panels

JA claims their JAM6 panels are the best selling monocrystalline panels in the world. This may or may not be true, but they have a picture of a little smiling robot as tall as the panel giving them the thumbs up and if a grinning metal homunculus doesn’t fill you with confidence, I don’t know what will.

Their 270 watt JAM6 panels have an efficiency of 16.5% and, unlike some solar panel manufacturers, they don’t cheat by not including the frame in the efficiency calculation.

If you’re considering JA Solar panels for your home, there are a number of things you need to keep in mind first.

Headquartered in Shanghai, China, JA Solar started in May 2005 and claim to be a Tier 1 world-leading manufacturer of high-performance solar power products for residential, commercial, and utility-scale power generation.

Key Benefits Claimed By JA Solar:

Highly efficient panels produce up to 330W
Positive power tolerance 0/+5W
Certified to withstand high wind loads (2400Pa) and snow loads (5400Pa)
10-year product quality guarantee and 10-25 year power output guarantee
With all these positives, JA Solar panels sound like a great option for your solar power system, however, there are three things you must consider first.

JA Solar panels offer panel efficiency rates of up to 18.04%, compared to the market leader which is up to 21%. While a lower efficiency brand of panel is usually cheaper, you will sacrifice some long-term return-on-investment by not going with the highest efficiency brand you can afford, so be sure to compare the lifetime value of JA Solar panels against other brands before making a final buying decision.

If your roof space is not too constricted, JA Solar panels are a cost-efficient choice because you can fit enough panels on the roof to meet your power needs at a more reasonable price (compared to the higher efficiency panels previously mentioned). However, if your roof space is limited and you want to maximise your power production, JA Solar panels might not be the best choice for you. It’s important to keep in mind that solar is an investment first and foremost. Getting an accredited installer with experience in your local area to consult with you will help you understand what panels will provide the best return for your investment over the life of the system.

Even if you are already 100% decided on JA Solar, don’t be too hasty in accepting the first quote you receive. Different installers charge different prices, even for the same product. Installers all buy their products from different places, have different margins and offer varying levels of service. The price you are quoted, even for the exact same product, can vary by hundreds of dollars depending on who you talk to.

The best way to make sure you get the right panel for you at the best price is to compare quotes from Clean Energy Council accredited installers with experience in your area.

By partnering with the top national and local installers across Australia we offer the quickest, easiest and smartest way for you to do this.

JA Solar has grown to become one of the largest module manufacturers in the world. Unlike many panel producers, the company also has a physical presence in Australia – an important difference that provides added peace of mind.

Since 2010, JA Solar has shipped more than 18.7 GW of solar panels according to the company and it expects to have shipped 4.9 GW to 5.0 GW of its modules during 2016.

The manufacturer was named one of the world’s most bankable (financially strong) solar brands by Bloomberg New Energy Finance in 2016 – a significant vote of confidence in a company operating in an industry where competition is fierce.

According to PV-Tech’s PV Manufacturing & Technology Quarterly report, July 2016, the firm was a top 3 company in the report’s PV Manufacturer Rankings.
